Sydney – golf swing – steeper with the irons

I was using the flatter driver plane for my higher irons causing a thinner, lower right to left shot. I am taking away wider and going steeper on top.

  1. rate my swing

  2. You have a lot of Dustin Johnson is your golf swing. Closed clubface at the top…a lot of rotation going through the ball. It’s all good for getting distance….but not for consistency.

  3. Sydney, my team recommended you as a candidate to highlight as one of the golfers we will raise awareness for, so people will sponsor you to play in our upcoming event. We will be in touch.

  4. Your knee is straight at 7 seconds, and that is going to cause a little inconsistency. I had the same problem.. to see what exactly is going on there would have to be a video shooting facing parallel to your feet.

  5. @rogeone if you di down to much it can cause a lot of bad shots so if you were so look at the pro’s at the start of there swing most of them will stay paralel. And i comented to help not for someone to dis e a btw i’m hp 2.

  6. @daxster499 shoulders even what are you talking about don’t listen to any of these people you probably hit better then all of them….maybe keep the back knee bent just a little :)

  7. I would like to see you keep your right knee more flexed. At the moment it looks a little like a reserve pivot. Try to imagine you’re keeping your hips straight on throughout the backswing. Face a little shut at the top too. You also leap on impact. Excellent on the downswing though :-) But we all have quirks in our swing. No-one is perfect.

  8. good but keep shoulders even and it should be better :)

  9. Your clubface is way closed

But there are good things, too. It looks like your rhythm is good, although it’s always hard to tell with a slow-mo vid (if you’re looking at yourself predominantly in slow-mo, by the way, that can be an indication of getting too technical). And what I really like is that you give it a real rip instead of pitty-patting it like a lot of less athletic women do. That’ll serve you really well in the long run.

  11. Hmm. Everybody’s talking about how great it is, but I see technical flaws that might (and I think probably will) hold you back. Vetrlz07 is astute in saying that there are aspects that look like Johnson–shut face at the top, bowed left wrist, etc.–and that to offset that you have to to make a huge rotational move to stay ahead of the club until past impact. You also pull heavily to the left, which I think is an effect that itself can cause some bad things earlier in the swing.

  12. Great swing!
I agree that it is similar to Dustin Johnson’s swing. Very nice. You are going to use this method, it is crucial to keep your body turning. Just like DJ, if your body turn gets lazy on the way through, you’ll hook like crazy. Only one suggestion… right leg gets a bit too straight on the back swing. Not serious, but can lead to that body turn not coming through like I said.

  13. wow.. she lifts her front foot up.. just another example of how you can hit it well and do things like that…

  14. Fantastic – just wish I could do that!

  15. I wish I could swing like that!

  16. Very good it will get better and better

  17. i heart your swing and , God willing, gonna try to emulate it next time at range. perfect!

  18. thanks for sharing

  19. similar to dustin johnson. is it easier to have a shut club face? Does it feel like you hit it farther and more solidly? i cant quite decide if i should use a shut, neutral, or open face. ive tried them all and theyre frustratingly similar

  20. Hi Sydney, what a great looking swing you have!
It’s not fair. :-) How far do you hit your driver, 5 iron
and pw? Can you do some more video lessons?
